On July 24, 1975 in Milan at the Corso Venezia studio, the Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani, together with Sergio Galleoti, registered the company Giorgio Armani s.p.a. with a capital of about 2,500,000 pounds. Gradually expanding, by the end of the 20th century, the company became one of the largest in the fashion industry.

Armani became one of the first in the world of haute couture who began to segment his brand - men's and women's clothing and footwear, accessories, watches, haberdashery, jewelry and household goods are produced under the brands Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani, Armani Exchange, Armani USA. Armani Jeans, Armani Junior, Armani Casa, etc. Perfumery is produced under an agreement with the L'Oreal concern.

In 1979, the ready-to-wear line Armani Collezioni was launched. In 1981, the company opened the first Emporio Armani store in Milan, targeting a younger and more active clientele, and then, in 1982, again in Milan, the first Giorgio Armani boutique was opened. In the same year, the Emporio Armani Underwear and Emporio Armani Swimwear lines were launched.

In 1987, the Armani Occhiali line of ophthalmic frames and sunglasses was launched. In 2018, Giorgio Armani reduced the number of its brands and restructured its chain of stores.

Giorgio Armani includes all luxury products (in particular, Giorgio Armani Prive and Armani Casa), Emporio Armani will represent the middle price segment (Armani Collezioni and Armani Jeans will also be produced under this brand), and Armani Exchange will take a "budget" niche.
